A neighbourhood that was never quite a neighbourhood
Until the nineteenth century there was no permanent bridge. Triana was joined to the city by a bridge of boats, and that separation shaped everything: its own saints, its own accent, its own pride.
Sailors left from here. Many of the men who crossed the Atlantic in the sixteenth century were trianeros, and the neighbourhood has never let anyone forget it.
